A winemaker based in the Houston area will be getting a sip of Hollywood exposure beginning Friday.

That's when the latest film from Tyler Perry, "Nobody's Fool" starring Tiffany Haddish, opens and it will feature wines from Darjean Jones Wines, a boutique operation begun by Dr. Dawna Darjean Jones who's based in the Montgomery County town of Magnolia.

Though Jones' business operations are based in Texas, her wines actually come from California's Napa Valley.

Jones, a first-generation African-American vintner who has a Ph.D. in Plant Pathology from the University of California Davis, launched her brand in 2010 and has received several awards for her product, including gold medals at the 2018 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition.

If you want to taste Darjean Jones Wines, the Star Cinema Grill at 8920 Fry Road in Cypress is hosting an event at 7 p.m. Saturday that includes a screening of the movie, dinner, and a glass of wine. Tickets are $60 and available through Eventbrite.

Her brand also is available through her online wine shop at darjeanjoneswines.com and at such area retailers and restaurants as The Forest Club (Houston), Carney Liquor Store (Spring), GenuWine Tasting Room (Magnolia), Panther Creek Wine and Spirits (The Woodlands), Fielding's Creekside (Tomball), The Butler House (Spring), Pinot's Palette (The Woodlands) and Schillechi's New Orleans Kitchen (The Woodlands).
